Our club has a name... and a blog!

Boy oh boy was today an exciting day.

In our third meeting of the semester, we talked a bit more about composting and shredded cardboard boxes for the compost bins we built for our garden last week.

We cooked sweet potato tacos and guacamole from scratch (and ate them together, of course).

We made new signs for our classroom to help our new club members sort leftovers into compost, recycling, and trash containers.

And we voted on the new name for our after school club because, well, "the garden club" didn't quite sum up all that we do. We do quite a bit in the garden, but there's so much more to it, we realized as we wrote and talked about what we've been up to since October and what we plan to do going forward... By a landslide victory of 9 votes, "The Eco-Friendly Group" triumphed over "Going Green" and "The Physical Club" and "The Plant Police." (Eco-friendly? Yep, that's about right.)

Now that we have a blog, get ready to meet the dynamic and devoted next generation of world changers: The Eco-Friendly Group at Drew Freeman Middle School. Check back often to learn about what we're up to. Because we're always cooking, planting, building, and/or recycling something interesting....

  1. So, about those sweet potato tacos and guacamole - if you're going to entice us, perhaps you could let us know when they'll be available at your farm stand on Silver Hill Rd:)
